My Golf Essentials writes for golfers aged 45 to 75 about playing better for longer: the swing, the body, the gear and the game. This page is the standard every article is held to.
Who writes and who is accountable
Every article carries the name of the person responsible for it, with a link to their page. Justin Wilcox, the founder, edits every guide on the site. Sajana Yasas, the co-founder, builds the MGE Coach app and the tools behind the site. The About page says who we are.
How we test gear
- We buy what we review. When a product was supplied by a brand, the article says so.
- Clubs are hit on the course and on the range by golfers in our readership's age range, with a launch monitor where numbers matter. A review names what was measured and where.
- Where we have not tested a product ourselves, the article is a buying guide or a roundup and is titled as one, and it credits the sources whose testing it draws on.
- Forgiveness, comfort and ease of use for an older body count for more than tour specifications.
Where the facts come from
Rules questions follow the current Rules of Golf and the World Handicap System, and we link the governing body's text. Distance and performance figures name their source (Arccos, TrackMan, the manufacturer, or our own launch monitor). Health, fitness and nutrition guidance is graded by the strength of the evidence behind it, in plain words: strong evidence, promising, or skip it. We do not give medical advice; pain that persists is a reason to see a professional, and we say so.
Review of health and fitness content
Fitness, health and nutrition articles will carry a "Reviewed by" line naming a credentialed professional once one has signed off on them. Until then they carry none, rather than a name that is not one.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the article and the "Last updated" date changes. A material correction (a wrong rule, a wrong number, a wrong name) is noted in the article. Tell us at support@mygolfessentials.com and a person will read it.
News and software tools
For news we work from primary sources and named publishers, credit them with a link, and do not copy their sentences. Our editors use software tools, including language models, to gather sources and prepare first drafts. No piece is published without a named editor reading it, checking its facts against the source, and taking responsibility for it under their byline. The same person decides what we cover; nothing is published automatically.
Independence from advertising and affiliates
Advertisers and affiliate programs do not see articles before publication and cannot influence them. Commission rates play no part in rankings or verdicts. The full account is in our Affiliate Disclosure.
