My Golf Essentials is free to read. Two things pay for it: affiliate links in some of our gear articles, and advertising. This page explains both in plain words, because the rule we care most about is that you can always tell how we earn and that it never changes what we recommend.
What an affiliate link is
When we review or list a product, we may link to a retailer. If you click that link and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not. If you buy nothing, nothing is paid.
We take part in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We also take part in affiliate programs run by golf retailers and brands directly, and through networks that manage them. Where a page contains affiliate links, a notice sits above the content, not buried at the bottom.
What it never changes
- We buy what we review. No borrowed tour vans, no loaner clubs with strings attached.
- A product's commission rate plays no part in whether it appears, where it ranks, or what we say about it.
- We say what to skip as readily as what to buy, including when the thing to skip pays a commission and the thing to buy pays none.
- Brands do not see articles before they are published and cannot ask for changes.
- Our writers are not paid per click or per sale.
Advertising
We may show advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense, on article pages. Advertisers have no say over editorial content, and an ad on a page is not an endorsement of the advertiser. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalised ads, is set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Our own product
We also make MGE Coach, our golf performance app. Where we mention it, it is ours, and we say so. Articles are never written to sell the app; the app is built from what the articles already teach.
Questions
If anything on a page is unclear about how we earn, write to support@mygolfessentials.com. A person answers. See also our Editorial Policy for how articles are written, tested and corrected.
