Tiger Woods TGL return

Tiger Woods may be set to return to competitive golf during the third season of the TGL. A report from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach said the 15-time major winner should be competing with his team Jupiter Links Golf Club on December 27. It remains to be confirmed but if Woods does compete, it will be the first time he has played competitively since March. The last time he took part in a TGL match was before he suffered a rollover accident in Jupiter Island, Florida. However, Woods has taken a break from golf to receive treatment for the incident. If he does play in December it will be a key moment for fans as they get to see him back on the course. There are still concerns over his physical fitness.

Tiger Woods TGL Return On December 27?

The upcoming TGL season could see Woods compete in a team setting. The Tiger Woods TGL return will take place at the SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Jupiter Links Golf Club will kick off their campaign on December 27. As captain of Jupiter Links GC, Woods inclusion will definitely be a talking point. However, his inclusion will depend on how everything goes.

Woods last took part in a TGL match back in March. But just days later, he suffered a rollover accident in Florida. As a result, he was forced to take a break from golf to receive treatment. It was reported that he went to Switzerland to receive treatment. Since the accident, the former world No 1 has been kept out of competition. Competing in the TGL could give him a route back into competition. Rather than jump straight into a busy PGA Tour schedule.

The Tiger Woods TGL return comes after a difficult time for the golfer. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the accident in March. Last month, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and refusal to take a lawful test. This meant he received a 5 year suspension of his drivers licence. Woods has had some injury setbacks prior to the accident. He suffered an Achilles tendon rupture and back surgery in 2025.

This has affected his play as he has only completed 3 full tournaments in his last 11 starts. He has not performed well in his last few tournaments with multiple missed cuts. His last start on the PGA Tour was at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon where he missed the cut. This makes the Tiger Woods TGL return a key possible event. But his physical fitness will be crucial in deciding whether or not he participates. Woods has shown he can overcome tough recoveries in the past but will depend on his fitness.

Other Possible Competitions

The Tiger Woods TGL return is not the only possible competition the golfer could be playing in this year. He could compete in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. This is an unofficial competition he hosts every December. He could also compete in the PNC Championship. This would allow him to play with his son Charlie. The 36 hole tournament allows players to play in a golf cart which could make it a less physically demanding competition. Both competitions are not confirmed.

Looking further ahead, Woods’ schedule for 2027 is currently unknown. He hosts the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles every February. This could be a starting point for him. The Tiger Woods TGL return could be a small step towards getting him back into competition. If he decides to play more regularly consideration must be made for his physical fitness.

TGL Season Three Will Be Big Talking Point

There are going to be 14 regular season matches in the third season of TGL. There will then be a 4 team playoff. The playoffs will take place from March 1 until March 23 at the SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. If Woods does play, it will give the Jupiter Links GC team an experienced leader. It will also bring attention to the team format of the league. The golf format uses lots of technology.

The Tiger Woods TGL return is still a possibility. December 27 is the date to look out for. However, if there are any injury setbacks. No matter if Woods plays in the TGL opener or decides to play elsewhere, his next competitive appearance will be closely watched. After taking a break from golf, his decision could give fans an idea of what to expect from him in 2027.
