UTRGV

The UTRGV women’s golf team made a strong statement in the second round of the Southland Conference Championship on Tuesday by shaving off 10 strokes from their previous round. Playing at Kissing Tree Golf Course in San Marcos, TX, the team posted a round-two score of 299 after an opening 309, bringing their two-day total to 608 and moving into seventh place.

This turnaround demonstrated the team’s resilience and strong competitive spirit, keeping them within reach of a top-five finish heading into the final round on Wednesday.

Standout Individual Performances

Sophomore Preston Saiz and senior Cristina Galban led the UTRGV resurgence with even-par 72s in round two, placing them tied for 14th with two-day totals of 150. Meanwhile, sophomore Natalia Rodriguez continued to shine with a steady 76 in round two following her opening 72. At 148, Rodriguez is tied for ninth overall and trails the individual leader by six strokes.
