Coastal Georgia

The College of Coastal Georgia women’s golf team has slipped to third place heading into the final round of the Sun Conference Championship at Pine Lakes in Jekyll Island, Georgia. After starting strong in the opening round, the Mariners recorded a 308 on Monday, placing them behind Keiser University and SCAD-Savannah.

Junior Elise Forberg delivered the team’s best score of the day with a 3-over-par 75, elevating her to ninth place individually. Slightly ahead, sophomore Madelyn Taylor finds herself in seventh despite enduring a difficult 7-over round. A strong finish from Taylor could prove pivotal in the Mariners’ final push.

Other key contributors included:

  • Carlin Paulk – shot 77, maintaining top-20 position
  • Claire Wickes – matched with a 77, also within top 20
  • Laura Kate Kessler – despite a 9-over Round Two, sits just inside top 15

As the teams prepare for Tuesday’s 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, standings remain close. The current leaderboard shows:

  1. Keiser University – 9-over-par
  2. SCAD-Savannah – 26-over-par
  3. Coastal Georgia – in third, tightly contested by Southeastern and St. Thomas

The Mariners face a narrow margin and a fierce challenge to climb in the standings. With individual accolades and team pride at stake, the final round promises excitement and pressure across every hole.
