With the 2026 Masters Tournament just days away, there is no better time to look back at the legendary names who have slipped on the iconic Green Jacket at Augusta National Golf Club over the decades.

The Masters is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in world golf. Held every April in Augusta, Georgia, it draws the finest players on the planet competing for a title that can define entire careers. Since its first edition in 1934, the tournament has produced moments of brilliance, heartbreak, and pure sporting drama.

Jack Nicklaus holds the all-time record with six Masters titles, and his 1986 victory at the age of 46 remains one of golf’s most celebrated moments. Tiger Woods sits second on the all-time list with five victories, his most recent coming in 2019 in what many considered an extraordinary career comeback.

Phil Mickelson, Nick Faldo, and Gary Player have each claimed the Green Jacket on multiple occasions, cementing their names among Augusta’s greatest champions.

In the 2025 Masters, Rory McIlroy delivered a performance for the ages, defeating Justin Rose in a playoff to finally complete the career Grand Slam. It ended an 11-year pursuit of his fifth major title, and the scenes at Augusta that Sunday were unforgettable. Scottie Scheffler had won the previous two editions in 2022 and 2024, while Jon Rahm took the 2023 title.

Other notable past champions include Seve Ballesteros, Arnold Palmer, Jordan Spieth, and Hideki Matsuyama, who made history in 2021 as the first Japanese player to win at Augusta.

The 2026 Masters tees off on April 9, and all eyes will be on whether Rory McIlroy can defend his title or if a new name will add its chapter to Augusta’s remarkable legacy.
