Ben Griffin continued his strong season with another bogey-free round at Silverado Resort’s North Course, carding a second-round 66 to move to 14-under-par (130) and take a three-shot lead into the weekend at the 2025 Procore Championship.
Griffin, already a two-time winner this year, leads a crowded leaderboard that features Ryder Cup teammates and a standout amateur.
Griffin Stays Steady at the Top
The 27-year-old Griffin is one of only two players without a bogey through 36 holes (along with J.J. Spaun). His 130 total is just one stroke shy of his best opening two-round score on TOUR, and his consistent play off the tee and with approach shots has set him apart.
Griffin, who has 10 top-10 finishes this season, is seeking his third victory of 2025. A win this week would place him alongside Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler as the only players with three or more PGA TOUR titles this year.
“I’m just trying to give myself as many birdie looks as possible,” Griffin said. “The fairways here are tight, so keeping it in play is key. I’m confident and just want to keep the pedal down.”
Henley and Koivun Share Second
Russell Henley and Jackson Koivun (a) are three shots back at 11-under 133.
Henley, also a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, has already made 16 birdies through two rounds—the most of any player in the field.
Meanwhile, Koivun, the world’s No. 1 amateur and Auburn University junior, continued his impressive run with a 66 on Friday. The 20-year-old is chasing a historic finish, as no amateur has placed better than T50 in the history of the Procore Championship.
“I told Russell [Henley] I was going to catch him,” Koivun said with a smile. “We’re tied now, so I guess we’ll have a little internal match the next two days.”
Spaun, L. Griffin, and Ryder Cup Talent in the Hunt
At 9-under 135, J.J. Spaun and Lanto Griffin sit four back. Spaun, the 2025 U.S. Open champion, has been bogey-free through two rounds and is chasing his first win of the season after multiple playoff losses.
The top 10 also features Ryder Cup standouts Scottie Scheffler (T13, -6) and Cameron Young (T20, -5), as well as two-time Procore winner Max Homa (T26, -4). Defending champion Patton Kizzire, however, missed the cut at +1.
FedExCup Fall Stakes
The Procore Championship is the first of seven FedExCup Fall events, where players outside the top 50 are battling to secure their cards for 2026. Winners in the Fall earn the same benefits as full-field regular season winners, including a two-year exemption and invitations to The Sentry, THE PLAYERS, and the PGA Championship.
