Back at Augusta National for the Masters, Will Zalatoris marks his return a year post-back surgery, with invaluable assistance from Tiger Woods guiding his journey.
After enduring several months of back problems, he underwent a surgical procedure on April 8th, 2022, to eliminate herniated disc particles. Looking back at his experience, he conveyed appreciation for Woods’ encouragement and help to those who had undergone the same operation.
“It’s been a special day,” said Zalatoris. “Given the last year that I’ve had, this was a very special day.”
Sharing the same surgeons, Will Zalatoris and Tiger Woods exchanged advice and experiences during their respective recoveries. Conversing with Woods provided invaluable insights into patience as a crucial factor in his recovery process.
“Having the exact same injury, it’s been the thought-provoking questions from Tiger that got me back to where I am now,” Zalatoris shared.
A year after surgery, Will Zalatoris feels stronger and more prepared than ever. He has learned to listen to his body, adjust his swing, and embrace a long-term approach to his career.
“I kept thinking I was at 100%, but each month I’ve picked up a little more speed,” Will Zalatoris explained. “Patience has been key, and I’m focused on the long term.”
Filled with appreciation for his journey and the chance to compete again at Augusta National, Zalatoris readies himself. Thanks to Woods’ encouragement and fresh perspective, he is prepared to face upcoming challenges head-on while pursuing golfing excellence.
