U.S. Ryder Cup Stars Eye Procore Championship to Stay in Form Before Bethpage This Year (2025)

Several members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team are expected to tee it up at the upcoming Procore Championship, held at Silverado Resort in Napa, California, from Sept. 11–14. With the Ryder Cup scheduled for later that month (Sept. 26–28 at Bethpage Black, New York), this PGA Tour event serves as a timely opportunity for players to stay sharp ahead of the international showdown.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has confirmed his participation, and fellow American Xander Schauffele hinted that Scheffler has encouraged other team members to join as well.

This move addresses concerns from the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, where the U.S. team appeared underprepared after a long layoff following the Tour Championship. That year, most of the American squad had several weeks without competition, while Team Europe stayed active at the BMW PGA Championship. The result: a slow U.S. start and a dominant win for Europe.

Only Justin Thomas and Max Homa competed in Napa in 2023 alongside then-captain Zach Johnson, while Europe had most of its team competing in England the same week. The performance gap was evident.

This year’s Procore Championship is the lone PGA Tour event between the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup. It coincides with the BMW PGA Championship again, offering both teams one last warm-up option. While not all 12 Americans are expected to compete — particularly Bryson DeChambeau, who remains ineligible for PGA Tour events due to his LIV Golf affiliation — many key players are likely to be in the field.

U.S. captain Keegan Bradley recently confirmed that DeChambeau will be one of his six captain’s picks, citing his stellar play in the majors this season. DeChambeau recorded top-10 finishes in three of the four major championships in 2025.

“Bryson is going to be a critical part of our Ryder Cup team,” Bradley shared with Sports Illustrated. “His energy, passion, and elite-level performance will be key for us.”

The LIV Golf season wraps up on Aug. 24 in Michigan, limiting DeChambeau’s competitive options before the Ryder Cup. Unless he appears in unofficial matches or European events, he may head into the event with minimal recent play.
