Russ Cochran Returns to PGA Tour After 10-Year Hiatus for Zurich Classic!

At this week’s Zurich Classic in New Orleans, golf enthusiasts will be delighted as Russ Cochran, a one-time PGA Tour champion- prepares to make his debut appearance after over ten years. Paired with Eric Cole for the team event at TPC Louisiana, the seasoned 65-year-old last featured on tour in 2013 during the Sony Open.

Russ Cochran’s return to the PGA Tour generates buzz, especially considering his recent limited appearances, even on the PGA Tour Champions circuit. Despite playing sparingly, Cochran’s wealth of experience and past successes make him a notable addition to the Zurich Classic lineup.

Playing as a past champion member rather than a sponsor invite, Cochran’s line Tour victory came at the 1991 Central Western Open. Although he has not played an entire season on tour since 2004, Cochran’s history of success, including five wins on the PGA Tour Champions, underscores his competitive spirit.

Cochran’s partner for the Zurich Classic, Eric Cole, currently holds the No. 41 spot in the world rankings. While Cole may have just one top-10 finish this year, his consistent performance with six top-25 finishes suggests he and Cochran could form a formidable duo for the tournament.

The Zurich Classic has become known for its distinctive team format and unconventional pairings in recent years. Cochran joining Cole only adds to the event’s intrigue, where Tour professionals can partner up with players they choose – as long as one holds Tour status or garners a sponsor exemption.

After a prolonged absence, Russ Cochran returns to the PGA Tour, leading golf fans eagerly awaiting his return and observing thrilling competition during the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.
