Nelly Korda, the world’s No. 1 female golfer, has withdrawn from the upcoming Ladies European Tour (LET) Aramco event in London after suffering a dog bite injury. Korda shared the news on her Instagram page, expressing regret over her inability to compete.
Korda expressed her regrets over having to withdraw from the Ladies European Tour tournament in London next week. The reason being that she got bitten by a dog on Saturday while in Seattle and needs time for treatment and complete recovery. She apologized to everyone, including LET, sponsors, fans emphasizing her desire to return as soon as possible onto the course again.
Korda has experienced a string of difficulties lately, including missing the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship held in Sahalee Country Club. This marks her third consecutive failure to make it past this stage. In stark contrast to these recent setbacks are her achievements from 2024 when she won six out of eight LPGA starts initially.
Korda’s absence from the LET Aramco event is notable as she won the individual portion of last year’s Aramco-sponsored event in England. Her withdrawal is also reminiscent of a similar incident earlier this season when Alison Lee was sidelined by a dog bite, leading to a hospital stay and missed tournaments.
Next week, the LPGA is slated to pause their tour with plans for resuming play on July 11-14 at the Amundi Evian Championship in France – which marks the fourth major of this season. Korda will be looking towards a strong comeback after not making it through subsequent majors having won her first one already earlier this year at Chevron Championship.
Awaiting Nelly Korda’s full recovery and return to competitive play are both her fans and the golfing community.
