Lauren Coughlin Wins CPKC Women’s Open, Secures First LPGA Victory!

On Sunday, Lauren Coughlin clinched her first LPGA Tour title with a dramatic victory at the CPKC Women’s Open. Coughlin’s decisive moment came on the par-3 17th hole, where she pulled away from competitor Haeran Ryu with a two-stroke swing.

Tied with Ryu after she three-putted the 16th for bogey, Coughlin delivered a crucial 6-iron shot to 8 feet on the 195-yard 17th and sank the birdie putt. Ryu, facing pressure, missed a 3-foot par putt, falling two shots behind.

Reflecting on her pivotal birdie, Lauren Coughlin remarked, “I could only hit a 6-iron and needed to take some off it, especially considering how excited I was. But I hit it pretty perfectly.”

Lauren Coughlin finished at 13-under 275, with a final round of 1-under 71, beating Mao Saigo by two strokes. Saigo, who set a tournament record with a 61 the day before, shot 69 and shared her thoughts on the experience, “Being in contention this week was a great experience for me.”

Ryu, who bogeyed the final hole, ended in a tie for third with Jenny Shin at 10 under. She expressed determination for the future, saying, “I can only remember my mistakes from the last couple of holes, but there is always next time.”

Jennifer Kupcho took fifth place at 8 under, while Canadian star Brooke Henderson, a former event winner, tied for eighth at 6 under after a strong finish.

Coughlin’s victory comes after a recent fourth-place finish in France and positions her well for a potential spot on the U.S. Solheim Cup team. She reflected on her journey, stating, “I think my story shows that I’m always trying, always willing to try new things. I am willing to stay in it. I won’t give up.”

Lauren Coughlin’s triumph marks a significant milestone in her career, achieving victory in her 103rd LPGA Tour start.
