Justin Thomas Parts Ways with Caddie 'Bones' Mackay Ahead of Masters!

In a surprising announcement, Justin Thomas revealed that he and his caddie, Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, have ended their partnership just days before the Masters Tournament. 

Thomas expressed gratitude for their time together, stating, ‘While incredibly difficult for me to say, Bones and I have parted ways. I’m going to be forever thankful for him joining me on the bag in 2021.’ 

Thomas has achieved significant victories at the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup, thanks in large part to his esteemed caddie Mackay within the golf community.

The timing of the split is unexpected, with Thomas set to compete at Augusta National alongside a new caddie. Mackay is already engaged as an on-course reporter for NBC at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. 

Despite the split, Thomas wished Mackay well, saying, ‘I know there are great things coming for both of us down the road. I wish him the best of luck and will always count him and his family amongst my friends.’ 

For roughly 2.5 years, Thomas and Mackay collaborated closely, establishing a robust connection both during and beyond their professional duties. During the challenging phases of his career, Thomas acknowledged Mackay’s sagacity and encouragement as instrumental to his success.

As he looked back on their collaboration, Thomas remembered how they achieved remarkable feats, like organizing the PGA Championship in 2022 and overseeing successful Presidents Cup and Ryder Cups. He acknowledged his partner’s invaluable guidance both on and off the golf course that had aided him during a challenging phase of his professional journey.
