Charley Hull is determined to finish the LPGA Tour season on a high note as she heads to the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. Her build-up to this week was far from smooth, she arrived in Florida late due to a passport delay, skipped the pre-tournament pro-am after falling ill, and had no practice round under her belt.

At The Annika, Hull “just winged around the golf course,” she admitted, yet still posted an opening-day 68 followed by two rounds of 67 and capped her week with a flawless 63 to finish tied-fourth.

“It was like, ‘Go for everything today and try to make as many birdies as we can,’” she said of her mindset coming down the stretch. With that result, Hull enters the season finale feeling confident and equipped.

High stakes at Tiburón

Only the top 60 players (and ties) in the Race to CME Globe standings qualify for the Tour Championship, and Hull is currently the highest-ranked European in the field. She says she has fond memories of the venue, it’s where she won her first LPGA title in 2016, and she believes that familiarity could give her an edge.

“This is a good spot for me to be in,” Hull commented. “I like the golf course. I’ve had good results here in the past. So yeah, just going to try and enjoy the moment at the end of the season.”

Looking ahead

With the biggest prize in women’s golf, a $4 million winner’s check, on the line, Hull knows the pressure will be intense. But her recent performance suggests she’s ready to rise to the occasion.

She’ll tee it up alongside England-team debutant Lottie Woad, as British women feature among the world’s top-10 for the first time. With form on her side, Hull has the chance to close the year in style.
