Tommy Fleetwood has returned to India for the first time in nine years, looking to cap off a breakthrough 2025 with a strong finish.
Despite currently being 90th in the Race to Dubai standings, he is determined to ride the momentum from recent success, including his first PGA Tour win and a strong role in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory, into the final stretch of the season. He believes that staying focused on the present week is key, even as he eyes bigger goals ahead.
A Year of Milestones and Reflective Growth
This season has been transformative for Fleetwood. He joined an exclusive group by becoming one of the few players to win both the FedExCup and the Race to Dubai. He also cracked the top five in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time ever.
Still, Fleetwood admits that the season’s major performances fell short of his standards, he missed cuts and never truly contended in the biggest events. Those gaps have only sharpened his resolve heading into 2026.
Sharpening Tactics for Majors in 2026
Fleetwood is already making mental and strategic adjustments with next year’s majors in mind. He says that his goals include refining his approach in those tournaments, ensuring he has the “major-winning game” ready.
He acknowledges that in 2025, his game was strong but he lacked the extra push needed to take control in those big moments.
Strategy for the Week in India
At the DP World India Championship, Fleetwood plans to play with patience and strategy instead of sheer aggression, especially given the course’s tighter fairways and challenging areas around the greens. He sees an opportunity to play smart, prioritize fairways, manage his iron play carefully, and outlast tougher conditions.
