Bryson DeChambeau remains the only LIV Golf player in the OWGR top 20, ranked 16. In contrast, fellow LIV stars have seen substantial drops: Phil Mickelson plunged to around 942nd, Brooks Koepka to 294th, and Jon Rahm now sits at 72. The lack of OWGR points for LIV events has driven dramatic downward movement for many.

Why DeChambeau Still Ranks

DeChambeau maintains his top-20 placement by scoring well in major championships and limited DP World Tour appearances. Other LIV players, confined mostly to ineligible LIV events, haven’t had the same access to ranking points. Without OWGR-qualifying tournaments, most can only climb through small exemptions or strong major showings.

LIV’s Push for Ranking Recognition

LIV Golf has reapplied for OWGR accreditation, proposing changes like legitimate relegation and broader qualification pathways. Players like DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Joaquin Niemann are actively supporting the effort, arguing LIV meets competitive standards. They hope reforms will secure points before the 2026 major season.

Players Criticize the Current System

Several LIV golfers, including veterans like Lee Westwood, have decried the OWGR system as flawed and unfair. They argue the current format fails to reflect actual performance and trends, with arbitrary ranking collapses after joining LIV. Their plea: modernize the system and include the world’s best, regardless of tour affiliation.
