- Order of Play: In stroke play, the player with the lowest score on a hole has the right to play first on the next hole. In match play, the player who won the last hole goes first.
- Out of Bounds: If your ball goes out of bounds, you must play another ball from the spot where the original shot was played, under penalty of one stroke.
- Penalty Areas: Red and yellow stakes or lines indicate penalty areas. You have options to play the ball as it lies within the penalty area or take relief outside the area with a penalty stroke.
- Etiquette: Respect the course, your fellow players, and pace of play. Be ready to play when it’s your turn, and take care not to disturb others.

- Grip: Start with a proper grip. Hold the club with your fingers, not your palms, ensuring that your thumbs point down the shaft.
- Posture: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and your back straight but tilted forward from the hips.
- Alignment: Make sure your feet, hips, and shoulders are parallel to your target line.
- The Swing: Think of your swing as a pendulum and try to keep your movements smooth and consistent. Focus on rotating your body from your hips, not just swinging with your arms.
- Practice: Regular practice is key. Consider taking lessons from a PGA professional who can provide personalized advice and corrections.
