Hannah Green proved her strength and perseverance by winning the JM Eagle LA Championship two years in a row, establishing herself as a formidable player on the LPGA Tour. Her mastery was an impressive spectacle to behold.
Exhibiting her exceptional skills on the difficult Wilshire Country Club course, the Australian golfer demonstrated a magnificent 5-under 66 during the final event of the tournament.
With an overall score of 12-under 272, Hannah Green achieved her fifth LPGA Tour accolade and second win this year thanks to two strategic chip-ins from off-the-green shots that easily steered her through the back-nine stretch.
Reflecting on her performance, Green expressed gratitude towards the course and its unique challenges. “It’s really kind to me,” she remarked, highlighting her fondness for the layout and the favorable bounces she received throughout the day.
Green’s crucial run started on the par-3 12th hole with a chip-in birdie and continued with a critical 6-foot putt on the par-5 13th. With a four-stroke advantage, she sealed the title with a remarkable 25-foot eagle putt on the fringe of the 13th green.
Despite a final round score of 68 from Maja Stark, who was Green’s nearest rival, her extraordinary efforts were not enough to surpass the exceptional performance displayed by Green. It is worth noting that despite coming in second place at last week’s competition, Stark still voiced satisfaction with her achievements regardless of the outcome today.
South Korean golfer Hae Ran Ryu secured third place with a solid 69, while Jin Young Ko and Jin Hee Im rounded out the top five under par.
The tournament saw Grace Kim, an early frontrunner, falter over the weekend, finishing tied for 25th after failing to make a birdie in the final two days.
Despite the absence of top-ranked Nelly Korda, who withdrew from the event, the competition remained fierce, with Hannah Green again emerging as the deserving champion.
Green’s back-to-back victory at the JM Eagle LA Championship cements her reputation as one of the LPGA Tour’s elite players, setting the stage for more thrilling performances in the upcoming tournaments.
